Two men were on Sunday beaten to death by National Youth Service (NYS) trainees for allegedly stealing a phone belong to their boss in Suba, Homa Bay County.
The two have been identified as Hesbon Nyamwea and Geoffrey Onjoki.
Reports indicate Nyamweya and the said NYS senior official were on a drinking spree at a local pub when the mobile phone went missing.
Thereafter, Nyamweya and his colleague, were frog-matched by the trainees to Lambwe NYS Camp to answer questions on the missing phone.
However, according to sources, the two didn’t reveal much about the missing phone.
The trainees then raided the houses of the accused and beat them to death using crude weapons after their attempts to get the phone proved futile.
On his part, the deceased persons’ employer identified as John Nyangweso accused the trainees of using excessive force on the accused without giving them time to defend themselves.
The county security team has launched investigations into the murder.
