Villagers in Nyeri woke up to a rude shock after a grave of a 74 year old woman was unearthed by thieves who made a way with the coffin.
The thieves are suspected to be part of the villagers as they knew the value of the coffin and also that the woman was buried with imported clothes.
Daniel Mwangi a relative to the deceased said that he noticed something was a miss when he saw the cross that was placed on the grave had been tossed to the side.
He said that the people who did the unearthing must have lost their conscious to be able to do something that was considered a taboo in the Kikuyu community.
The Nyeri Deputy county commissioner, David Marete said that police had started investigations on the matter but no one had been arrested in relation to the matter.
