Nyeri residents were treated by their Governor Mutahi Kahiga to a goat race dubbed goat derby in an event sponsored by National Bank of Kenya, to celebrate the County’s tourism and cultural festival.
The event was held at Dedan Kimathi Kamukunji stadium where the residents were treated to a three day exhibition of the county’s culture and different activities.

However, resident were left baffled because they do not recognize racing of goats as part of their culture. They normally do not engage in it even as a fun activity.

They took it upon themselves on Facebook and Twitter to let the Governor know:

The people of Nyeri do not recognize goat derby as part of their culture but want the governor to concentrate on more pertinent issues.
Nyeri was recorded as one of the 14 counties that spent zero shillings on development projects in the half year report for the 2017/18 financial year.
