Nike is “deeply concerned” by sexual assault accusations against their athlete Cristiano Ronaldo.
The US sportswear behemoth – which has a contract with the football star for reported $1billion will “continue to closely monitor the situation.”
EA Sports, which also has a deal with the Juventus star and five-time World player of the year, expressed similar sentiments.
Ronaldo, 33, has been accused by ex-US model Kathryn Mayorga of sexually abusing her at a hotel in Las Vegas in 2009.
Kathryn was inspired to speak out by the #MeToo movement, her lawyer said.
“The MeToo movement and the women who have stood up and disclosed sexual assaults has given Kathryn a lot of courage,” Leslie Stovell said.
Meanwhile, Juventus have rallied behind their star striker. In a tweet, they said;
“Cristiano Ronaldo has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus.”
