The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has taken up a case about an election officer who was assaulted during the Ruguru Ward MCA by-election in Nyeri County. They responded on their official twitter and said that appropriate directions will be taken this morning.
Trouble seemed to brew after the Mathira MP, Rigathi Gachagua made a complaint to the officials claiming that badges were being issued randomly. As the IEBC Officials defended their claim, one of the MPs men just randomly slapped the girl! Claiming that she had assaulted the ‘Mheshimiwa’.

The video caused an uproar from Kenyans including gubernatorial aspirant, Martha Karua, saying that this level of tolerance of women battering by male leaders is an issue and accountability needs to be taken for such incidents.
