Nation reporter, Walter Menya was today presented to a Milimani court accompanied by his lawyer, James Orengo and LSK chief executive Apollos Mboya.
Walter was arrested on Sunday evening on claims of soliciting a bribe to write a damaging story. He was arrested on undisclosed grounds.
During the court session, the government filed a miscellaneous application against the accused. His defense however said that they had not been served. The court instructed the State to serve the defense.
The police did not disclose from whom the reporter demanded the alleged bribe. According to the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, Menya was caught receiving a Ksh. 50,000 bribe from an undisclosed person.
The Sunday Nation reporter had on Sunday published a news piece implicating civil servants actively involved in the Friends of Jubilee Foundation.
In the article, Mr Menya implicated KRA boss, John Njiraini, Kenya Leather Development Council Board Chairman, Titus Ibui and Energy Principal Secretary, Joseph Njoroge.
