Nation Media Group’s Advertising Director, Michael Njoroge has allegedly been fired after the Jimmy Wanjigi ‘death and funeral announcement’ appearing on the Daily Nation on February 7.

Mr Ngugi took up the advertising director’s role in January 2009 and has according to the Editor-in-chief To Mshindi has ‘done a great job over the years.’
He joined the company as the Head of circulation and distribution in 2002 and was thereafter promoted to the General Manager Advertising in 2004.
The erroneously placed advert sparked emotions online prompting the daily to apologize for causing Wangiji’s family anguish and pain.
Wanjigi, an opposition supporter while talking to Cable News Network (CNN) threatened to take legal action against the company.
“It’s a death promise. We are coming for you, we assure you that we are going to finish you. I see the Nation Media as being part of a conspiracy of premeditated murder. I don’t see which other way to see it,” he said.
According to CCTV footage, the ad was placed by a middle aged man at 5pm on Tuesday, February 6.
