NASA idea of “adopting a polling station” saw the coalition create an M-Pesa number through which Kenyans could contribute funds to ensure NASA votes are protected by sponsoring agents across the country.
This account, according to sources at Safaricom, had more than Ksh250 million as at yesterday meaning the money was never used even as lack of agents countrywide has seen NASA fail to protect its votes, which has given President Uhuru a landslide win.
Even as the coalition throws tantrums about Jubilee rigging, coming up with fictitious documents they claim are generated from IEBC, not a single NASA agent has come out to dispute the results being projected at the national tallying centre as being erroneous.
It is not clear why the money is stuck at Safaricom, but this will be one of the many issues NASA Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga will have to tell Kenyans. Was the call for Kenyans to contribute to his presidential bid a fraud to mint money for unrelated purposes?
Earlier, NGO Board CEO Fazul Muhammad froze accounts of Raila’s eldest daughter Rosemary which had Ksh530 million. This money, which the NGO claimed had been wired from the American billionaire Goerge Soros foundation, was also said to have been meant for NASA vote protection purposes.
The Odingas have denied such an account existed.
Raila already declared himself the president, a move Daily Nation has termed as “doomed”.
