NASA Senators are ready to battle it out for the Deputy Minority leader, a position that fell vacant after the opposition senators kicked Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula to the curb replacing him with Siaya’s James Orengo.
On the front line is Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala. A number of the senators feel it would be appropriate for the post to be filled by a leader from Western Kenya where Wetangula hails.
But also in the race to deputize Orengo is Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina who says that the Maasais who backed Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in 2017 are yet to be rewarded.
The senators will on Tuesday vote for their deputy minority leader of their choice in a meeting led by Senate Minority Whip, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.

A section of opposition senators said that the Ford Kenya party leader was ‘a repellent leader and not a team player.’
It has been said that Odinga plotted Wetangula’s downfall way before his fate was sealed on March 20, 2018.
