The National Super Alliance (NASA) has put on hold the long awaited December 12 swearing in ceremony of both Raila Odinga and his deputy, Kalonzo Musyoka.
They have also postponed the launching of the People’s Assembly which was going to swear in to power the two opposition leaders. The inauguration ‘after extensive internal consultations and engagement with a wide range of national and international interlocutors’ will be held at a later date.
”We shall be announcing the new dates of both the swearing in ceremony and the launch of the people’s assemblt as well as more vigorous and prolonged resistance in the coming days,” the opposition has said in a letter dated 10, December.
In the letter signed by Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Wiper party chairman, Kivutha Kibwana, the opposition notes that any national dialogue must have on its agenda, electoral reforms.
But President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday said that talks on electoral reforms will be had in 2022 with his deputy, William Ruto who is set to succeed him.
The opposition leaders have also assured their supporters that their resolve still remains the same noting that they only have tow options; democracy or self determination (secession).
”We also want to assure Kenyans that we remain fully on course in pursuit of electoral justice. Our resistance of dictatorship is resolute and irreversible. We remind the NASA fraternity to maintain our civic and economic resistance.”

The Attorney General, Githu Muigai warned NASA against an alternative swearing in, noting that the act was treasonable and punishable by death.
The People’s assembly steering committee on Saturday said that Odinga’s swearing in was uncertain as his deputy, Musyoka was all the way in Germany following his wife, Pauline Musyoka’s illness.
