Nakumatt beat Ushuru 2-0 in the Kenyan Premier League promotion playoffs at the Kasarani Stadium Sunday to keep their topflight status.

A brace from Joseph Waithera in each half ensured that the retailers won the two legged playoffs on 3-0 aggregate.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Ushuru whose second successive attempt to return to the KPL ended at the playoffs level.

The taxmen narrowly missed direct promotion from the National Super League after finishing third behind winners Western Stima and KCB.

The playoffs offered them another bite at the cherry against Nakumatt who finished 16th in the 2018 KPL but again the coach Ken Kenyatta’s side failed the test.

Ushuru were in a similar situation last year when they lost to Thika United in the playoffs.
