Samburu West Mp Elect, Naisula Lesuuda Eying Deputy Speaker Position

Samburu West Mp elect, Naisula Lesuuda has her eye on the Deputy Speaker position in the National Assembly.

Ms Lesuuda on Friday said she her passion for leadership pushed her to apply for the position that was previously held by Dr Joyce Laboso, Governor Bomet.

”My passion for leadership is not unknown to many Kenyans and it is for this reason that I have decided to submit my application for the Deputy Speaker’s position.”

The former journalist with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) also highlighted some of her roles in the 11th Parliament where she served as the Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library, the Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Devolved Governments and a member of the Procedure and Rules Committee of the Senate.

Naisula was nominated to Parliament by TNA as a Senator in 2013 and elected the Vice Chair of the Kenyan Women’s Parliamentary Association.

The 33 year old also said that her passion for the leadership by women and young people is also a key driving force towards her candidature for this position.

Lesuuda ditched the ruling party, Jubilee for KANU and beat her opponent Lati Lelelit in the just concluded August 8 poll.
