A Nairobi resident, Japheth Muroko has filed a petition to contest Nairobi governor Mike Sonko election stating that the elections were done contrary to the provisions of the constitution.
He claimed that the agents of the former governor and his party were either completely denied from accessing stations or they were given limited access to specific stations which allowed massive irregularities costing the former governor his seat.

The supreme court ruling nullifying the election of the president gave rise to a lot of petitions being filed in courts at different levels. A total of 120 petitions have been filed so far with 15 petitions being against governors.
The Nairobi Governor beat Evans Kidero who conceded during the swearing in ceremony of the Mike Sonko.
