Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen has come out guns blazing, accusing Mombasa Governor Joho of insulting retired president Daniel Arap Moi and his son Gideon Moi after their meeting on Saturday.
Murkomen says that Joho called Mzee Moi and Gideon Moi thieves. He was referring to a statement that Joho made during a fundraiser in Tiaty.
“Uwizi ndio umefanya watu wetu kuwa maskini…We should not come here to raise money to build classrooms 54 years after our independence.Watu wanajenga raslimali zao at the expense of mwanchi wa kawaida. We should not come back kwa watu wetu kufanyia hawa harambee ndogo ndogo …”

Senator Murkomen noted that even though Governor Joho may have a point, he should decide whether he is working with or against those he dines with.
“You can’t eat Ugali kwa Mzee and shortly insult him, his son and his 24 year legacy. Show some little respect Mr Joho to the old man and his son, your running-mate,” Murkomen said.
