Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata’s mother, Margaret Wangechi, has passed on.
Confirming the saddening news to Daily Nation, the Senator stated that his mother succumbed to diabetes and hypertension.
Ms Wangechi had been undergoing treatment at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi where she died on Saturday morning.
Upon hearing the news, Murang’a leaders sent their condolence messaged to the Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Kang’ata.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro stated: “We have lost an exemplary mother who was selfless. Her humility was exhibited by the way she lived. Kiharu is mourning.”

His sentiments were shared by nominated MP Maina Kamanda.
Kigumo MP Ruth Mwaniki also described the death of Ms Wangeshi as a blow to the country.
Ms Mwaniki expressed: “I was with the senator on Friday when I wished his mother quick recovery, not knowing she would leave us today.
“I went through the same journey last year. The senator’s case is extreme because both his parents were at the hospital. May she rest in eternal peace,” the Kiumo legislator added.
