Murang’a MCAs exchanged blows on Monday over the tabling of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) report.

The county’s Finance Committee Chairperson, Kiiru Mbembe rejected the tabling of the report because the Finance Minister had not given his input on the paper.

Fellow Committee members accused him of trying to sabotage the report for his own personal interests since they had discussed when they would table the report.

The debate got heated after Makuyu MCA Stanley Mwangi called out some of his colleagues for allegedly receiving bribes to pass the report.

“We know that some of you have been taken to Mombasa where you were given Sh.42,000 to pass the report which has not passed all the legal requirements,” Mr Mwangi claimed.

This statement led to heckling by other MCAs demanding for an apology by the Makuyu MCA.

The Finance Committee then proposed Kamacharia MCA Gerald Wambugu tables it on behalf of their chairperson.

Two groups then took to the floor taking different sides in the argument. Blows and kicks  then erupted forcing the speaker to postpone tabling of the report until in the afternoon.

“The allegations from the Finance chair in the floor of the assembly is forged are very serious, and I will take my time and investigate the matter. I hereby instruct members of the committee to sit down and deliberate the report and table it in the afternoon,” Mr Kairuki Nduati ruled.
