mbadiThe parliamentary service commission (PSC) has taken the salaries and remuneration commission (SRC) to court over the pay cut and reduced allowances that the SRC had gazetted In July.

The PSC has moved to court under certificate of urgency to have the gazette notice suspended.

The members of parliament have said that the SRC failed to conduct a study on labor market efficiency, dynamics on the prevailing economic situation and a comprehensive job evaluation before reviewing and setting the new structures of salaries, remuneration and benefits of state officers.

The PSC also said that the SRC actions were unreasonable and discriminatory against them and failed to consider the high cost of living. The MPs added that the reduction will greatly affect the operations parliament.

“The un-procedural decision will hamper and curtail the MPs in discharging their constitutional mandate,” the lawyer for the parliamentary service commission George Miyare said.
