Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria will on Wednesday move to court in a bid to have NASA leader, Raila Odinga’s January 30 ‘swearing in’ ceremony declared an act of treason.
“We are being told to respect the Judiciary, yet while the court declared that President Kenyatta won the election, Raila Odinga was sworn contrary to a court order. If Chief Justice David Maraga has been waiting for someone to question him on this issue, then I have offered myself to do it,” said Kuria.
Odinga was sworn in as the People’s President in front of tens of thousands of NASA supporters at the Uhuru Park.
In the past, the former Prime Minister has noted that he is unafraid of treason charges because he survived the same in 1982.
Former Attorney General Githu Muigai on December 7 warned the ODM party leader against taking the ‘illegal oath’ as it was punishable by death.
“The punishment of committing treason is death. The swearing-in of any person not declared by IEBC, and who did not win the election, is unacceptable,” he said.

But the opposition has argued that ‘all sovereign power belongs to the people’ and hence the inauguration of the People’s President.
