The outspoken Gatundu South Mp Moses Kuria, has gotten closer to retaining his seat in the August elections after independent candidate Joyce Ngugi dropped out of the race.
Ms Ngugi is said to have pulled out of the race so as to campaign and drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ngugi officially dropped her bid on Saturday, June 17, 2017 when she was warmly welcomed at the Jubilee offices in Kiambu.
The late Joseph Ngugi’s widow however rubbished claims that she had been coerced into dropping her bid in favour of Moses Kuria.
“It was my choice to drop my bid as an independent candidate and join the Uhuru’s campaign team,” Ngugi said.
”Being the president’s home, I saw it wise to set aside my ambitions and mobilize people to vote on August 8 ,” she added.
Ngugi is not the first politician to drop her bid in order to campaign for their preferred presidential candidate.
