Learning and other activities have been paralysed in North Hor following massive invasion of locusts.

Similar stories have been reported in rural Isiolo and Marsabit counties. The government is yet to respond with the measures taken to control the invasion.

According to reports by locals, the insects are feeding on each and every plant on their way as they spread fast.

“If not controlled in time, other neighbouring counties especially Wajir and Garrisa on the right, Turkana, Laikipia, Baringo and Samburu on the left will be massively affected. This will lead to famine on a mass scale,” warns Mohamed Doyo, a communication expert.

Residents are now calling on the government to act swiftly to save them from the menace of the insects.
