Media Council Appoints David Omwoyo CEO, Replacing Haron Mwangi

The Media Council of Kenya has on Wednesday announced the appointment of David Omwoyo as the Chief Executive Officer replacing Dr Haron Mwangi.

Mr Omwoyo was the Managing Director of Waumini Communications Limited and the Director of Communications for the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Speaking on Omwoyo’s appointment, MCK Chairman Charles Kerich said: ”We are pleased to bring on board Mr Omwoyo to head the council’s secretariat. He brings a wealth of experience and is not new to the media industry, having worked for several years at Waumini communications.”

Omwoyo who takes over from Mr Mwangi who has served the council for six years expressed his excitement to take up the new challenge.

”I am happy to take up this new challenge as I feel strongly that I have plenty of value to add not just to the Media Council but to the media industry as a whole,” he said.

His appointment is effective August 1, 2017.
