Jubilee Party candidate for the Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga has been disqualified from the race after his name was found missing from the voter register.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) said Tuesday evening that they cannot accept McDonald Mariga’s candidature because his details are missing in the voters’ register of 2017.
Following the announcement, Lang’ata MP Nickson Korir said they are going to appeal the decision at the party’s tribunal.

Mariga was handed nomination certificate today by the party to battle it out against ODM candidate Ben Okoth.
The disqualification comes as a blow for the ruling party, but as a relief for ODM which has been the dominant party in Kibra.
Other candidates in the race to succeed late MP Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer on July 26, are Amani National Congress’ Eliud Owala, Editar Achieng of Ukweli Party and Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi.
