Maseno University Students Disrupt Kisumu-Busia Highway, Protesting Against Police Harassment

Students from the Maseno University are currently engaging police in running battles as the protested over alleged police harassment.

This protests have crippled the busy Kisumu Busia Highway as the riots have rendered it impassable.

The students claim that their chairman and the Secretary general were arrested and harrased by junior officers at the police station.

“The students two were not treated well by the junior police officers who were at the station, leading to bitter exchanges leading to their detention ,” said the student who sought anonymity

Kisumu OCPD has said that the students have since been released from custody and police working to restore sanity on the busy road.

The communications said that he students who were arrested when they went to report that some of their colleagues had been attacked by thieves.

“They went to make report about some of their colleagues who were attacked by thugs and at the police station, they disagreed with the officers who then detained them.
