Nominated MCA Mary Njambi while appearing before the county assembly’s Powers and Privileges committee denied any role in the chaotic and dramatic ouster of speaker Beatrice Elachi. According to the MCA she arrived there peacefully wanting to speak to the speaker.
She claims that her peaceful approach was met with retaliation from the embattled speaker who sprayed them with pepper spray.
Mary Njambi famed for the Kirimino phrase said that after that her eye sight became ‘dim’ and she did not cause any chaos on the fateful day.
Waithaka MCA Antony Kiragu echoed her sentiments saying that there was a commotion of people scampering for their lives after the now replaced speaker pepper sprayed them.
He said that Elachi who he referred to as a ‘stranger’ to the county assembly had become a security threat.
The two also denied being intoxicated during the material day with Njambi who was spotted with a bottle of beer saying she was born again and was not an imbiber.
These claims were also refuted by the sub county commissioner Robinson Thuku saying that he was roughed up by a member of the county assembly.
