A man was on Monday charged with threatening Jubilee Secretary General, Raphael Tuju on February 1, 2018.
Richard Aketch Njer reportedly sent a threatening text message to former Rarieda MP warning him against setting foot in the village.
”Do not set foot in your motherland. You should come with an additional coffin,” the message read.
The accused will remain in custody until Friday, the court has ruled after the prosecution asked the court to suspend bond terms as police officers are yet to finalize their investigations.
Aketch’s lawyer, Steve Kabita argued that his client was not a flight risk and should be granted bond. He added that he, Aketch, had been denied access to basic right since his arrest on Friday.
“For the sake of justice and humanity grant bond and bail to him that he may access basic services, this not a capital offense and he can be ordered to report to police if need be,” Mr Kabita said.

Over the weekend, Tuju was jeered in his home, Rarieda as he attended Rosalia Ogego’s funeral (mother to former Kenya ambassador to US, Rateng’ Ogego).
Tuju who was nominated to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet is said to have mocked Raila Odinga’s swearing in as the People’s President.
He was forced to cut short his speech and escorted out by police officers who stopped the agitated youths from attacking him.
