A Nairobi county resident on Tuesday chained himself to the Tom Mboya statue in the capital’s Central Business District (CBD).
Samson Mihindo Waitha told county askaris and those from the fire department that all he wanted was to get Nairobi County Governor, Mike Sonko and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s attention.
Mr Waitha says that he was electrocuted while working at the Jubilee Party headquarters in Pangani back in 2017.
As a result, he was hospitalized and one leg amputated. The two leaders, he further alleges pledged to foot the hospital.
“Dying silently, dear beloved Deputy President William Ruto, assist me retain back my health after I was knocked down by electricity at the Jubilee headquarters during Jubilee election campaign (sic),” read one of his placards.
Word also has it that Waitha was promised Sh300,000 by the county boss, money he says is yet to reach him.
He has also accused the Jubilee party leadership of dumping him at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
He also had with him documents showing he underwent an MRI scan at German Medical Centre upon referral from KNH on June 29.
He is appealing for help as his health deteriorates and needs to undergo surgery.
