AnotherĀ shake up has been constituted in the Prisons Service as a number of officers in charge have been transferred while others have been redeployed for duties.
Commissioner Of Prisons, General Isaiah Osugo in a memo seen by Kahawa Tungu stated that said the transfer will take with immediate effect with the officers taking up their new positions beginning 1st and 2nd of January 2018 ‘without fail.’
Duncan Ogore has been appointed Regional Commander in charge of Rift Valley, Emaase Okodi formerly of Kakamega prisons has been affirmed as in charge Western region and is no longer on acting capacity, Julius Adero SACP Bungoma takes up new potion as Deputy RC Kisumu County.
In February 2017, Osugo made sweeping changes at the department by reshuffling 53 of his top officers in what he terms as ānormal transfersā and which was theĀ first phase of these reassignments.

It is understood that the General in charge of prisons wants to rejuvenate the department which only started hiring new officers in 2015 after a six-year suspension due to lack of funds.
Most of the officers moved haveĀ been promoted as as Osugo puts it, “change of station is important to enable them exchange their skills and experiences with other colleagues.ā
Atieno Leah Belinda and Doreen Ombati both of Lang’ata Women Prisons will take up jobs as Deputy Officers In charge of prisons at Kakamega and Thika Women’s Prison respectively.
