Madagascar edged out Equatorial Guinea 1-0 Tuesday to qualify for the Afcon 2019 in Cameroon for the very first time in their history.

Njiva Rakotoharimalala scored the golden goal in the first half to secure the important win.

With two rounds of matches to go in the qualifiers, the Islanders have collected 10 points and are sure of finishing at least second in Group A.

Senegal will also qualify later Tuesday if they beat Sudan in the other group fixture.
