Mwai Mureithi the deputy OCS of Lumakanda police station in Lugari Sub-county, Kakamega County, has died in a road accident along Eldoret – Webuye highway.
Mureithi was being driven from Eldoret in an Administration Police ranger pick-up by a fellow AP officer identified as Corporal Bramwel Sarai who sustained serious injuries.
This is after their vehicle was hit by a trailer that was heading to Eldoret from Webuye.
According to police reports, the driver of the petroleum tanker swerved the cabin to avoid a head-on collision but the tanker hit the police vehicle throwing it into a ditch.

Sarai was rushed to Lumakanda District Hospital before being referred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.
“Abdikadir Mohamed the driver of another vehicle that had earlier been involved in the accident at the same area and was on board of police vehicle and died while being taken to Lumakanda hospital,” read the police report in part.
The deceased was taken to MTRH mortuary while the motor vehicle was towed to Lumakanda police station for inspection.
