The South Nyanza faction of Luo Council of elders led by Nyadiko Ongadi have urged the community to recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as the President of the republic.
This comes even after Nasa’s Raila Odinga on Sunday while commissioning the People’s Assembly in Mombasa reiterated that his swearing in as President was still on course.
Ongadi asked Kenyatta not to sideline the Luo community when it comes to development and State jobs and vehemently castigated those often quick to label such State appointees as ‘rebels.’

Luos who have worked for the State have often come under fire; in Homabay County for instance, Sammy Wakiaga’s gubernatorial campaign to take over form Awiti was met with criticism with political nemesis chiding him for his former position as National Intelligence Service Finance boss with some even claiming he took part in ‘snatching Odinga’s 2013 victory’.
The call also comes as former Ndhiwa Mp Augustino Neto is lined for a possible Principal Secretary job alongside Kisumu’s Ken Obura.
“Rejecting a government officer is akin to rejecting development and this explains why we have been lagging behind,” he said.
His sentiments were seconded by elder Peter Mbogo from Migori who said political rivalry was normal in any democracy and should not been viewed as enmity.
