Laikipia North Mp, Lempurkel Arrested For Inciteful Remarks

Laikipia North Mp Mathew Lempurkel was on Saturday arrested for what the police have termed as inciteful remarks.

The legislator was arrested in Nanyuki and is being held at Narumoru police station for questioning.

The Mp claimed that white farmers living in Laikipia will be forced to leave should Raila Odinga clinch the presidency in August.

He however denied inciting the people in their native tongue saying that the area residents have land issues and Raila is the only one with the solution.

He also claimed that he received message from an unregistered number on Wednesday night. According to him, the sender wants his head.

He has asked for more security officers citing insecurity in the area.

In June, the former prime minister was accused of inciting violence by saying that ranches in Laikipia are owned by white farmers who no longer live there.

He was also charged with unlawfully assaulting Nominated MP Sarah Korere on the 21 November 2016 at Harambee House.
