Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has frozen Football Kenya Federation (FKF) bank accounts over Ksh 44million tax arrears.
The amount was accrued during the past regime led by Sam Nyamweya.
“It’s true for the past four months FKF bank accounts have remained frozen. It is not Nick Mwendwa’s fault because he inherited the mess from Sam Nyamweya’s administration,” a source close to Kandanda House told Kahawa Tungu.
Nick was elected president of the federation in 2016, inheriting a debt riddled body that was almost run down by Nyamweya, according to sources inside FKF.
The current situation has crippled their operations and for months they have not been able to pay salaries for members of staff.

“Nick has been using his personal resources to run the federation. He had to dig deep into his pockets to finance Harambee Stars preparations for the Afcon qualifier against Ghana.”
FKF now wants to negotiate with KRA on a settlement.
Meanwhile, they will have to source for funds to prepare Stars for next month’s back to back qualifiers against Ethiopia in Bahirdar and Nairobi.
