Kisumu Youths Storm Hotel Over ID Card Buying Allegations


kisumuKisumu youths have on Wednesday stormed Jumuia Hotel after receiving information of voter buying taking place in the premises.

The rowdy youths are said to have turned tables and destroyed laptops found in the Anglican Church owned hotel.

Police have however clarified that the ID card buying romours were untrue saying that there was only an inter-religious meeting dubbed ‘Nyanza Women of Faith.’

The over 200 women present are said to have been assaulted by the youths with some sustaining injuries.

The police have been forced to shoot in the air and use teargas to disperse the youths.

ODM Secretary General, Agnes Zani on Monday said there was massive vote buying in NASA strongholds, a move she believes Jubilee is using to reduce Raila Odinga’s chances of bagging the presidency.

Zani said Jubilee operatives have been buying the ID cards for 1,000 to 5,000 shillings in Kisumu, Busia and Bungoma.
