Senator Kipchumba Murkomen says that he will sponsor a bill that allows the governor to appoint another deputy governor within 14 days following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.
The bill stipulates that the governor shall appoint a deputy governor within 14 days but with the approval of the members of the county assemblies.

There is a lacuna in the constitution with regards to the vacancy on the office of the deputy president. Kipchumba Murkomen said that he will spark debate on the bill in senate. The bill prescribes the vacancy of the deputy governors office will fall vacant on the premise of death, resignation, imprisonment or if the deputy governor ascends to the governors seat.
He says the bill will help the Nairobi situation as well as the Nyeri county situation where Mutahi Kahiga has been operating without a deputy governor.
Deputy governor Igathe tendered his resignation notice on January 12, The notice was received by the governor who is et to issue a statement on the same. Jubilee leaders led by senator Johnstone Sakaja and Gatundu south legislator Moses Kuria who advised Igathe to have a thick skin when handling a political posts.
