Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero is lobbying to join Uhuru cabinet, multiple sources have informed Kahawa Tungu.
Kidero lost an upset poll to Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and initially toyed with the idea of lodging a petition to challenge the win but was persuaded by senior government officials, including President Uhuru, to concede in exchange of a role in the new regime.
Kidero’s concession was briefly used to corner NASA Leader Raila Odinga not challenge the re-election of President Uhuru, coming only days after the poll verdict was declared.
I commend outgoing Gov. Kidero for conceding defeat and handing over peacefully which is a show of mature politics and love to the nation. pic.twitter.com/ftC30wtJri

President Uhuru is expected to reshuffle his cabinet bringing in new faces. Some of the names that have been thrown for cabinet roles are Prof. George Magoha, who is likely to succeed Matiangi in the Education docket as Matiangi heads to the security docket, which remains vacant following the demise of the late Joseph Nkaissery.
However, Mt. Kenya wants the security docket to be handled by ‘one of their own’ ahead of 2022 election, and the name of former Kenya Defence Forces boss Michael Gichangi has cropped up.
It remains to be seen if the Nairobi Governor will reap what he has sown.
