Kenyan actors and actresses had so much to celebrate about, after bagging 6 out the 9 awards they were nominated for at the 6th annual African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Kenyan film, 18 Hours managed to bring home 3 awards as it won the Overall Best Movie and the Best Movie award in East Africa, at the award event held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
Mark Maina won the Best Picture Editor award for the same movie, 18 Hours.
Dennis Wanjohi won the Best Documentary Award for his short film ‘The Flesh Business’, a feature highlighting the rampant underage prostitution in the Coast region.
Super Modo by Sarika Hemi Lhakani won the Best Indigenous Language Movie or TV Series, being the only movie in the Swahili category.
Aunty Boss actress Nyce Wanjeri was overwhelmed as she received the Best Actress in a comedy and TV series.
“Oh my God! First of all God ni mso and I want to thank everyone who voted. This is my first time to board a plane and I came to Nigeria and from being nominated for the first time to winning an award is beyond my wildest dreams,” she shared amid tears.

Despite the show bringing her this huge success, Nyce Githinji, popularly Shiro Warugongo will no longer be seen in Auntie Boss as her contract was not renewed.
