The Kenyans have said that this move by the communication authority is draconian and obnoxious. The citizens say that shutting down media will be detrimental as it gives room for spread of propaganda on other streams such as social media.
Here are some of the tweets:
Citizen TV and Radio,NTV have been switched off. The worse thing is we living on the digital era where streaming is possible

Why should a Government that respect Constitution, infringe in the rights of media. We strongly condemn the act by Govt to shut down "Citizen TV and Radio"

The Managing director at the Royal media group Wachira Waruru has said that they have not received due cause as to why action was taken for them to be switched off but are in consultation with the relevant authority and that the issue will be sorted as soon as possible.
KTN has also been shut down from the free to air channels and is currently only airing on DSTV.
