Safaricom bonga points system had a breakdown of the service on Tuesday evening and most Kenyans could not keep calm. Users noticed that their bonga points balance had substantially multiplied and went ahead to take advantage of the situation.
One Jeremiah Kahindo alerted Safaricom Customer Care notifying them that there was a breakdown on their system to the disapproval of Kenyans on twitter.

Safaricom applauded the man’s honesty but that could not spare him from being attacked by other users.

Some users also commended the user for his integrity:
Thumbs up Jeremiah, you are the type we need in this country, wacha na hizi fisi zingine who only wanted to take advantage of another person's misfortune. Hii country haiendi mahali na watu kama hawa wamejaa huku

Don't despair, don't relent. That is who you are! Be proud. Cyber bullying here is being taken to another level. I am a Kenyan and I applaud your honesty! Very rare… Yet the same people bullying you are the loudest to bash "corrupt people"!!

Safaricom have since rectified the issue.
