While ERC is blaming all manner of factors for the rise of pump prices, those in the know blame the rise on a deal which was signed by PS Njoroge in Israel and whose details have been kept under wraps even from Kenya Pipeline Company bosses.
According to our sources, the deal was a single sourced contract which will see an Israeli company supply and install cameras along the Kenya Pipeline lines to enable live monitoring of activities along it.

The deal which is valued at Ksh 35 billion was signed in Tel Aviv by the PS who represented the Ministry of Energy. The whole amount was allegedly pre-paid to the company with those in the know now claiming that the amount must have been meant for something else and not the stated reason.
The deal will affect the fuel prices for sometime as ERC tariffs were to be used as the guarantee for the deal.
Efforts to get comments from the Energy Ministry, KPC or ERC has been unsuccessful as all the concerned parties feigned ignorance of the existence of the deal.
