Friday was a good day for team Kenya in the ongoing African Athletics Championship in Asaba, Nigeria as they bagged three gold medals, one silver and a rare bronze.
Conseslus Kipruto, Winnie Chebet and Mathew Sawe delivered the top prize while Emmanuel Korir and women’s 4*100 secured silver and bronze respectively.
Olympic and World steeplechase king Conseslus confirmed Kenya’s supreme status in the race winning in 8:28.01 for team Kenya’s first gold of the day.
Winnie won 1500m in 4:14.02 before Sawe capped the beautiful day with the third and Kenya’s fourth overall gold after defending his title in high jump.

Korir finished second to pick silver in men’s 800m while Kenya’s women’s team in the 4*100 won a rare bronze to crown the day.
Hellen Obiri won Kenya’s first gold in the 5000m and the team will be prospecting for the gold in the coming days.
