The Kenya editors guild vice chairman has issued a statement saying that an earlier statement by chairman Linus Kaikai was an individual position and not collective
Samuel Maina said that he was in attendance in the meeting representing the Kenya broadcasting corporation (KBC) and that what the media is reporting as a dress down of the media was misrepresentation
According to Samuel Maina the meeting had a good meeting and that they agreed that the freedom of the media should be accompanied with alot of responsibility. Thee vice chairman of the kenya editors guild says that no threats were issued.

He has also accused chairman, Linus Kaikai of failing to follow procedures of releasing a joint statements.
Hannington Gaya who was also present at the meeting claims that Linus Kaikai called him threatening him. He said that Linus Kaikai had accused him of being the force behind president Uhuru Kenyatta’s alleged threats on media houses.
Mr Gaya said that Linus Kaikai had stooped too low when he called him to solicit information on a meeting that hiss boss Tom Mshindi was in attendance.
He also took offense on the fact that Linus Kaikai with his position at the helm of such a big media house could not even spell his name.
Linus Kaikai had released a statement condemning the government of threatening media houses planning to give live coverage for the NASA swearing in. He had said that the media houses rejected the threats leveled towards them by the government and they were not actors to the NASA Jubilee contest but only messengers of what they considered affected the public interest.
