Kenya let go a commanding 26-0 half time lead to lose to Scotland 26-31 in the round of 16 of the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, USA late Friday night.

The loss effectively ended the Shujaa’s run at the global showpiece but, they will stick around to play Ireland in the Shield Cup at 00:04 Kenyan time Sunday.

Meanwhile Scotland will play South Africa in the quarter-finals at 1:32 AM Sunday.

Kenya got off to a flying start with four tries from Collins Injera, Nelson Oyoo, Willy Ambaka and Jeff Oluoch for a comfortable 26-0 lead at the breather.

But Scotland managed to mount a spectacular comeback in the second half scoring five tries including Jamie Farndale’s dramatic touch down at the hooter to complete the turnaround.

Sammy Oliech and Samuel Ngethe had been sent to the bin when Scotland sealed the comeback.
