Second Liberation champion Kenneth Matiba memorial service will be held today at the All Saints Cathedral. He will be remembered for going against the then president Moi when he resigned as a cabinet secretary and championed for multi part-ism.
People who were close to the politician have blamed the government for not honoring him appropriately. They said that he should have been honored with this day designated as a public holiday.
They also said that if indeed the state wanted to honor him the flags should have been raised at half mast in his honor. They have also asked the people who harmed him during the liberation period to apologize so as to foster peace
The cottage will leave Lee Funeral home after a short service and will head to Uhuru park for a public viewing. The cottage will then proceed to All Saints Cathedral for memorial service.
The former politician will be remembered for fighting for multi party democracy along side Charles Rubia.
