Kariobangi Sharks are the 2018 SportPesa Shield winners. Sharks beat Sofapaka 3-2 in a thrilling final at the Kasarani Stadium to win their maiden shield Saturday.
The Slum Boys showed more hunger in the game, going ahead through Ugandan George Abege in the 27th minute following a superb interplay.
But veteran Stephen Waruru restored order with three minutes to the breather with a fine header.
Sofapaka would turn the screw on the Sharks, taking the lead for the first time in the match through vintage Kevin Kimani in the 58th minute.
Sharks never gave up and managed to equalize through substitute Sydney Simale before regaining their lead three minutes later with Abege’s brace.
Sofapaka squandered a chance to level again and send the tie into post match penalty with Kimani missing from the spot.
Sharks held on to bag their maiden Shield and a chance to play continental football next season.
