Kariobangi Sharks will tinker less with their squad ahead of their first continental assignment in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Head Coach William Muluya is sticking with majority players who earned him his first major silverware in the SportPesa Shield and a ticket to continental football.

“We shall first of all stick with what we have,” the youthful coach, who was voted the Kenyan Premier League coach of the year in 2017.

Sharks’ philosophy has been to nurture young talents and are not about to rope in veterans as they seek to represent Kenya in Africa where experience is key.

“If it is beefing up then it shall be on one or two areas that we may feel inadequate and that will not be bringing veterans.

We should remember that it is the same youngsters who won the trophy. By winning it, they showed the world that they are ready for continental football.

“If they were not ready then they would have not fought as they did to win it. So they are equal to the task,” Muluya added.

The club recently signed Dagoretti High School duo of Finlay Osoro and Peter James Outa “on long team deals.”

They have also roped in Nickson Omondi, a left back from Police FC and another defender John Otieno from Nakuru All Stars ostensibly to replace Pascal Ogweno who crossed over to Gor Mahia.

Sharks begin their Africa campaign against unknown Djibouti side Arta Solar at the preliminary phase on 27/28 November 2018.
