The director of public prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has confirmed the arrest of Deputy chief justice Philomena Mwilu. He said that the lady justice abused office for personal gain.
He said that the decision to arrest the DCJ was not made lightly but the independence of of the judiciary should not be compromised.
He said that it is the responsibility of every Kenyan to pay taxes toe ensure that revenue is collected to provide services to Kenyans

He said that he consulted with the Chief Justice David Maraga before the arrest. Haji said that he went through the files before him and found DCJ Mwilu criminally liable for obtaining execution of security belonging to Imperial Bank by false pretense. Imperial bank is currently under receivership
According to Haji this case has been traced back to when DCJ Mwilu was in the court of Appeal.
