Judy Wangui, a suspect in the murder of Mary Wambui Kamangara sought to be released on bond as she is being sexually harassed at the Juja Police Station where she is being held.
Appearing in a Kiambu court alongside other suspects; Joseph Kori Karue and Michael Githae, Wangui in a bond application through her lawyer Cliff Ombeta, also alleged that she has also been tortured.
Prosecution led by Tom Embali sought to have the three held for an additional 14 days as DCI officers look into the complex case.
But lawyer Ombeta argued that DNA sampling and mental assessment tests is not reason enough to hold his client, Wangui.
“She has been tortured not by one officer but by various. Thursday last week she reported to the OCS of Juja Police Station at about 7pm in the evening that she had been tortured.
“The investigating officer handed her over to two police women who then took her up. They had to even insert green chilies inside her private parts. She complained to the OCS. What has the OCS done about it? Nothing. So the 14 days you gave to the officers they are using them to force confessions and to ask her to change her statement, she has refused vehemently,” Ombeta said.
Advocate Hiram Thimba representing Mr Kori also sought to have the former’s car KCR 777R released as it is not part of the investigation.
Senior Principal Maginstrate Stella Atambo is set to deliver her ruling on their bail application at 2 pm.
