Jubilee EALA Nomination List Dominated By Poll Losers

Jubilee party on Thursday presented its list of nominees to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) based in Arusha.

Leaders of Majority in the National Assembly and Senate Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen submitted a list of 15 candidates who will be jostling for the five slots.

The list according to Duale ‘jointly considered gender and regional balance.’

Making it on the list are poll losers; Charles Nyachae, who lost the Kisii senatorial bid, former Nyandarua MP Wanjiku Muhia, Mpuru Aburi of Tigania East, Abdulaziz Ali and Adan Mohamed of Mandera North and Kamukunji MP aspirant, Simon Mbugua who stepped down after wide consultations for Yusuf Hassan.

Also on the list is the chairperson Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) and songstress Emmy Kosgei’s father, Jackson Kosgei. He has been fighting Netflix’ film streaming services in Kenya.

Others are; Florence Jamatiah Sergon – Baringo County, Dorice Donya Aburi – Kisii County, Mpuru Aburi – Meru County, Eunice Wanjiru Karanja – Trans Nzoia County, Dr. Joe Muriithi Muruiki and Julie Njeri Waweru- Nyandarua County.

NASA has also submitted a list of 12 nominees for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

The list submitted by leader of minority John Mbadi to the clerk of the national assembly consists of Raila Odinga’s brother, Oburu Odinga who is said to have lobbied for Jubilee’s approval through Aden Duale.

Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, Kennedy Kalonzo is also on the list. His candidature was met with a lot of criticism, with the some accusing the opposition of nepotism.

Musyoka, was rumored to be making a come back to Parliament as Mwingi North MP with the incumbent Paul Nzengu said would step aside paving way for Kalonzo’s 2022 Presidential bid.

CEO NASA, Norman Magaya is also on the list, alongside former Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden, Hon. Abubakar Zein Jane Moronge Marwa, Beth Syengo Mutunga, Loy Mwandi Mavyala, Angela Munyasya, Justus Onsongo Mochoge, Hon. Fatuma Ibrahim and Winfred Mutua.

The opposition will get four slots after the candidates are vetted.
