Jubilee Leaders Lash Out At Odinga Over ‘Children Will Not Die If Exams Are Pushed’ Statement

Jubilee leaders are an unhappy lot over the latest statement made by NASA leader, Raila Odinga rejecting the IEBC poll date.

Odinga rejected the 17 October date proposed by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the fresh presidential elections.

The date is supposed to ensure that the elections do not interfere with the education calendar.

Raila instead proposed that the polls be held on 24 or 31 November, pushing the KCSE and KCPE examinations a further two weeks.

“It is Jubilee who have decided on the elections, not the IEBC. This is a big joke…we will not be pushed around by Jubilee,” he said.

“The exams can be pushed by two weeks. The children are not going to die. They will just go home for holidays.”

Leader of Majority in the Senate, Kipchumba Murkomen and Murang’a Woman Representative, Sabina Chege said that postponing the exams was going to affect the children.

“Raila should tell us if he sat for an exam and if he understands the pressure that comes with a change of schedule for even one hour,” Sabina said.

Murkomen added that Jubilee was going to reclaim its win come 17 October.

NASA made a list of demands they want met by the IEBC before taking part in the fresh polls.
