The ruling party, Jubilee will not field a candidate in the upcoming Kitui West parliamentary by-election.
Jubilee party’s Secretary General, Raphael Tuju says that they will support Edith Nyenze, wife to the late Francis Nyenze who won the Wiper party primaries.
She floored Maluki Mwendwa, son of former minister Nyiva Mwendwa by garnering 13,388 votes against his 2,663 votes.
Ms Nyenze extended an olive branch to Maluki saying that it was about time the two came together for the sake of the people.
The former principal and Retirement Benefits Authority employee will face off with 8 other competitors on March, 26.
She believes that she is better placed to serve the people as she was already serving as her husband’s deputy during his term in office.
Nyenze passed away in December 2017 after a 10 year battle with colon cancer.
